A Cleveland wedding doesn’t have to take place in the city to hold the kind of moments you’ll want to remember for years to come. Mya and Gram celebrated their wedding in Wooster, Ohio, where Mya grew up, surrounded by family, meaningful Catholic traditions, and the people who have been part of their lives along the way.

Their day felt true to who they are: classy, loving, and genuine. From an emotional first look with Mya’s dad to the way she and Gram couldn’t stop giggling together, the moments that stood out most were the ones that happened naturally.

Getting Ready for the Day

When I arrived, Mya was already so excited to marry Gram. Even with everything happening around her, she remained calm and made time to help her bridesmaids get ready, too. It was easy to see where her attention was: she was happy to be there, and she was ready to marry the person she loves.

Mya and Gram chose a navy, emerald green, and blush pink color palette that suited their early fall wedding. The bridesmaids wore green dresses, paired with blue tuxes for the groomsmen, while Mya and Gram kept to traditional wedding attire.

One detail I especially appreciated was the memorial charm attached to Mya’s bouquet. It was a small, personal way to carry the memory of loved ones with her throughout the day. Details like this are a reminder that a wedding isn’t only about the people who are physically present. Sometimes, it’s also about finding ways to include the people who are missed.

A Catholic Ceremony at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception

Mya and Gram exchanged vows at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Wooster. With Mya having grown up in the area, getting married in Wooster gave the day a connection to the place she calls home.

Their Catholic ceremony was rooted in tradition, and one moment that stood out was Mya dedicating her bouquet to the statue of Mary outside the church. It was a meaningful gesture that reflected the role of faith in their wedding day.

The weather also gave us exactly what we needed for photographs. It was early fall, with an overcast sky, comfortable temperatures, and just a slight breeze. The soft light meant we could photograph outdoors without harsh sunlight, while the mild weather made it comfortable to spend time taking portraits.

An Evening at Magnolia of Wooster

After the ceremony, Mya and Gram continued the celebration at Magnolia of Wooster, surrounded by family and friends who had come together to celebrate their marriage.

Throughout the day, I kept coming back to how much these two enjoyed simply being together. Gram could make Mya giggle without trying, and her laughter was infectious. They didn’t need to be doing anything in particular. They were just happy to be getting married.

Those are the interactions I pay attention to when photographing a wedding. The quiet glances, the laughter between portraits, and the way a couple naturally gravitates toward each other can tell you so much about their relationship. My goal is to preserve those moments without making the day feel like one long photoshoot.

Thoughtful Planning for Meaningful Photographs

Mya and Gram found me through Google and connected with the soft, warm feeling of my photography. Before their wedding, I helped Mya plan the timeline to make sure we had enough time for the photographs she wanted during our coverage.

I know how much thought goes into planning a wedding, and I want couples to feel confident about what we’ve planned before the day arrives. A thoughtful timeline helps create room for photographs while allowing the rest of the day to unfold without feeling rushed.

For me, wedding photography is about more than creating images that look beautiful. It’s about paying attention to what matters to each couple and giving those moments the space they deserve.

Mya and Gram’s wedding brought together family, faith, and the simple joy of two people beginning their marriage. Whether you’re planning a Cleveland wedding or getting married in your own hometown, I want your photographs to reflect your day as it actually felt: personal, honest, and full of the people and moments that matter to you.
